GOVERNMENT SPENDING & DEBT

Committed To Lower Spending, Balanced Budgets, & Reduced Debt!

As a business owner and fiscal conservative, I am horrified by the financial mismanagement of our government, and will make it a priority to fight to get our financial house in order.

Today, our Federal Deficit is $12 trillion dollars and counting, or $120,000/family in debt. (~$40,000/individual). Over the next ten years, the Obama Administration is working hard to add another $10 trillion dollars, or another $100,000 in debt per family. When the long-term liabilities associated with entitlement programs are included, the amount is estimated at 5-7 times our forecasted GDP. The United States, not long ago the world’s largest creditor nation, is now insolvent unless drastic action is taken, and that is what I will be fighting for. I have laid out 12 steps towards solvency below.

This includes my pledge to eliminate all earmark spending. As with my term limits pledge (as published by the Wichita Eagle, click here), I am alone amongst the candidates in this race in publicly ending the practice of earmarks.

When I decided to run to represent the district, I made a commitment to not accept campaign contributions from any individual or group who would expect anything other than my allegiance to my constituents, the country, and the Constitution.

12 Steps Towards Solvency:

1) Complete review of all government programs to determine those that can be reduced, eliminated, or privatized in order to shrink the size of our Government

2) Immediate solvency and waste reduction plan for our largest entitlement programs, Medicare, Medicaid, and Social Security

3) Balanced budget amendment accompanied by a debt reduction plan

4) Freezing all of the spending creep built into current government programs

5) Elimination of ALL earmarks – Read Pledge

6) Review and phase out of Government subsidy programs

7) Efficient Military Spending

8) Total overhaul and spending reduction of our foreign aid program

9) Presidential line item veto

10) Formal audit plan that would analyze the effectiveness of how taxpayer dollars are being spent, starting with the largest programs, identifying areas of improvement

11) Hard review of the Federal Government’s processes regarding no bid contracts

12) Governmental worker compensation review (versus the private sector)
